Celebrating Frontline Heroes: How Frontline Builders Made an Impact During Frontline Worker Appreciation Month

This May, Frontline Builders launched a transformative campaign to celebrate Frontline Worker Appreciation Month, marking a powerful step forward in our mission to honor those who dedicate their lives to keeping communities safe, educated, and healthy.

Launching a Nationwide Movement of Gratitude

As we evolved from the Frontline Impact Project into Frontline Builders, we aligned more deeply with the Builders Movement — a call to action to uplift the 4 C’s: curiosity, compassion, courage, and creativity. Thanks to our dedicated donors, partners, and volunteers, this inaugural campaign became more than a celebration; it sparked a nationwide movement of appreciation, recognition, and tangible support.

Honoring Service Across All 50 States

Throughout the month, we saw 309 proclamations issued across all 50 states, D.C., and Puerto Rico, formally recognizing the selfless service of frontline workers. These included doctors, nurses, teachers, firefighters, EMTs, and police officers — individuals who often work quietly behind the scenes to uphold the very fabric of our democracy and public well-being. Frontline Builders partnered with local governments, nonprofits, and community leaders to ensure these efforts were not just symbolic, but meaningful and far-reaching.

One of the most impactful elements of the campaign was the distribution of 235,416 donated consumer product goods (CPG). These donations, which included everything from personal care items to snacks and beverages, were made possible thanks to the generosity of corporate partners who contributed in-kind donations and excess product. This act of corporate social responsibility not only prevented potential waste, such as soon-to-expire products, but also provided critical resources to those who serve others every day. The donations delivered a moment of comfort and appreciation to individuals who too often go unrecognized.

Making It Easy to Give Back

Frontline Builders made it easy for donors to donate resources to vetted 501(c)(3) organizations further boosting participation. Our donor community demonstrated the powerful impact of collective action through in-kind donations.

In addition to donations, we saw communities come alive through 10 community events celebrating frontline workers in person. These events served as a space for connection and gratitude, where people could meet the heroes in their neighborhoods and say a heartfelt thank you. We were especially touched by the 98 grassroots-driven social media posts created by everyday citizens and leaders alike, and the 27 earned media stories that helped amplify these voices nationwide. Through this, the campaign reminded the nation that humanitarian response doesn’t only happen during a disaster — it happens when we choose to see and support one another every day.

A Legacy of Appreciation

As we reflect on Frontline Worker Appreciation Month, we are filled with gratitude for the many hands that made this possible. Your participation, your willingness to donate, and your commitment to social impact helped us send a resounding message to those on the frontlines: we see you, we value you, and we are here to support you. At Frontline Builders, we remain committed to ensuring that appreciation becomes a regular part of how we support communities — not just in moments of crisis, but as an ongoing way of building a more compassionate world.
